Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning of guest rooms account for 40-80% of a hotel’s energy costs. Guest room energy management systems can improve a hotel’s bottom line by turning off (or changing the setpoint) of the room’s air conditioning and heating system when guests are not present. Systems may also turn off lights and televisions.
OPU provides a rebate of $75 per room for systems which control the heating and cooling only, and $85 per room for systems which control the heating/cooling and the lighting.
