The Owatonna Public Utilities, supplier of electricity, water, and natural gas services in Owatonna, Minnesota is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director, Engineering & Field Operations.

Candidates must have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Be a Registered Professional Engineer

Experience required:

  • Managed an Electric Utility Distribution system
  • Expert Knowledge in Electric Engineering Principles

Director, Finance and Administration

Owatonna Public Utilities is seeking a Director of Finance & Administration.  This position is responsible for preparing and administering the Utilities’ budget, long term financial forecasts, management and accounting reports, development of the utilities electric, water, and natural gas rate design and implementation of department software for the general accounting & financial systems at Owatonna Public Utilities. These functions include budgeting, general ledger, reconciliations, treasury functions, and monthly financial reports. Assists with managing the Company’s natural gas program including monthly procurement and hedging. This position plays a critical role with the Utilities’ Management team in strategic decision making and operations to fulfill the Utility’s mission.  Provides oversight to the Accounting, Customer Service and Meter Services Departments which includes key account customers and energy conservation programs.

Qualifications for this position are:     

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or other related field is required.
  • Eight (8) years Accounting experience or financial management is desired preferably with a municipal utility.
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience is desired.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of Outlook and Word.
  • CPA is a plus
