About OPU Owatonna Public Utilities is a community-owned, not-for-profit water, internet access, electric and natural gas supplier, created by local residents more than 80 years ago to provide high quality, affordable services tailored to the unique needs of the Owatonna area. Owatonna Public Utilities serves 11,300 electric, 10,000 natural gas and 9,400 water customers. Annual Revenues top $60 million, and about 2.5 percent of gross revenues are contributed to the City annually in lieu of taxes to further support the community. (507) 451-2480 Repairs and service: A night deposit box for making payments to OPU is located at the Business Office at the drive through on the South side of the building. You can also drop your payment at the Service Counter of either CashWise Foods or Hy-Vee Foods. The Automatic Payment Plan is available for your convenience through the Business Office. This convenient payment plan offers payment of your monthly bill through an electric wire transfer of funds from your bank account to OPU's bank account on your due date. The Owatonna Public Utilities Commission meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the 208 Walnut Ave. facility at 4:00 p.m. Notice is provided in the Owatonna newspaper prior to the meetings. If you have business you would like to bring before this policy making board, please contact the OPU office by calling 451-2480 or e-mail us at least two weeks prior to the meeting date. Topics will be placed on the agenda by this method. If the meeting date is changed,
or if a special meeting is required, the notice of change will be placed
in the local newspaper.
