Heat Pumps - Air Source

ENERGY STAR qualified heat pumps are about 9% more efficient than standard new modesl and 20% more efficient than what you may have in your home. OPU provides rebates for air-source heatpumps which meet or exceed the ENERGY STAR required seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) and heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF):
Split Systems: SEER 14.5 or greater and HSPF 8.2 or greater
Packaged Units: SEER 14.0 or greater and HSPF 8.0 or greater
The rebate amount depends upon the size of the unit and the SEER:
Units with cooling capacities of 20,000 Btu/hr (1.67 tons) receive a rebate of $100 plus $25 for each full SEER point above 14. Units with cooling capacities less than 20,000 Btu/hr are typically not large enough to condition an entire home and are often referred to as "mini-splits".
Units with cooling capacities greater than 20,000 Btu/hr (1.67 tons) receive a rebate of $200 plus $75 for each full SEER point above 14. Units installed to condition an entire home usually have capacities greater than 20,000 Btu/hr.
Rebate examples:
| SEER | Rebate for 20,000 Btu/hr (1.67 tons) or less | Rebate for greater than 20,000 Btu/hr (1.67 tons) |
