Central Air Conditioners

If your central air conditioning unit is more than 12 years old, replacing it with an ENERGY STAR qualified model could cut your cooling costs by 30%. OPU provides rebates for central air conditioners which meet or exceed the ENERGY STAR required seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) of 14.5.
 

The rebate amount depends upon the size of the unit and the SEER:

 

Units with cooling capacities of 20,000 Btu/hr (1.67 tons) or less receive a rebate of $100 plus $25 for each full SEER point above 14. Units with cooling capacities less than 20,000 Btu/hr are typically not large enough to condition an entire home and are often referred to as “mini-splits”.

 

Units with cooling capacities greater than 20,000 Btu/hr (1.67 tons) receive a rebate of $200 plus $75 for each full SEER point above 14. Units installed to condition an entire home usually have capacities greater than 20,000 Btu/hr.

Here’s how Conserve & Save ® works:

  1. Have Energy Star qualified air conditioner installed

  2. Get a rebate application from the contractor or dealer, at OPU’s office, or download it by clicking on the icon to the right.

  3. Fill out the application completely, attach your sales receipt and any other required documentation, and send it back to us.

  4. Allow 4-6 weeks to receive your rebate.
